Performance
An award-nominated performer with over 18 years of professional theatrical experience, Mairi seeks to stage pieces that bring the audience elation, devastation, and catharsis in equal measure. With training rooted in the body (Laban, LeCoq, Greek Choral Movement, Linklater, intimacy and stage combat choreography, as well as brushes with many other modalities of movement and acting technique), Mairi brings sharp yet playful instinct, grounded vulnerability, fierce joy, and pure love to every role she has the honor to inhabit. Hungry for presence and discovery in each moment, her goal is to never play a scene the same way twice.
While Shakespearean performance is their life’s work, Mairi is always open to explorations of/collaborations on other classics of the 16th/17th century or prior, as well as more contemporary theatre that engages with poetic language, experimental/physical staging, queerness, and the genres of horror, science fiction, folklore, and fantasy.

Shakespeare
For Mairi, Shakespeare and performance are inextricably entwined. Becoming entranced with the plays at a very young age via children’s adaptations and park performances, Mairi’s love and knowledge of Shakespeare is life-long and ever expanding. Her enthusiasm for the work pushes her to explore the outer borders of Shakespearean performance, traversing through original and quick-raise practices and experimental presentations.
With a knack for breaking down text work into quick-to-digest parcels and pulling the threads of the poetry to unveil a character’s psyche, as well as an intricate understanding of staging the plays for a modern audience, Mairi brings a depth of expertise and experience to any Shakespearean project. Engaging, emotive quick-raises, raucous, audience-winning bar performances, and down-to-earth workshops or one-on-one sessions are all within the scope of her work and passion.
